“Where The Hell Is Matt?” 2008 Edition

I’ve written about Matt before in 2006 when his silly video of him dancing in various exotic locations around the world first went viral. It was infectious in the simple joy it seemed to contain. Since then Matt has gotten corporate sponsorship and has put out additional videos with the latest from this year gracing the Where The Hell Is Matt? website.

This time Matt includes a few friends:

Yes, I know I’m posting a lot of video clips today, but there were lots of good ones today that I wanted to share. And that’s leaving out the trailers for video games announced during the Spike Video Game Awards show last night.

I keep watching this one over and over.

Updated: There’s a short five minute presentation by Matt on how he made the latest video that he gave at Gnomedex back in August that I’m including after the jump.

Very cool.

It’s a Presidential Election DANCE OFF!

The heads are little small for the bodies in a slightly creepy way, but if I wasn’t paying close attention I might be fooled:

McCain’s got better moves than I do.

Shamelessly lifted from Stonekettle Station.

Dance Off with the “Star Wars” Stars is just wrong…

… but I have a hard time not looking at it like it was some sort of horrible car accident:

Chewbacca and a Jawa dance to Footloose, Princess Leia and Queen Amidala are Girls Just Want to Have Fun, and Darth Vader is a Thriller in Dance Off with the Star Wars Stars, part of the 2008 Star Wars Weekends Hyperspace Hoopla show at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

This small piece of cherished memory crushing video was found over at /Film.

This would have been a perfect time for a miracle.

Either there’s a lot of unrepentant sinners attending church these days or God really hates contemporary Christian rock music:

More than 40 injured after floor collapses at church concert in B.C. – CBC News

More than 40 people were taken to hospital — three with serious injuries — after the floor caved in at a packed concert in an Abbotsford, B.C, church late Friday night.

“We were dancing in the front of the stage,” Kyle Weber, a teenager who was at the Christian rock concert, told CBC News. “The floor just collapsed. All the speakers just fell down [and] crashed a lot of people…. A lot of people fell through the floor.”

[…] A mosh pit in front of the stage was filled with teenagers, she said, and they were jumping and dancing. After the lighting fell, the floor beneath the mosh pit collapsed, she said, and the people on it fell through to the basement about three metres below.

About 1,200 people were watching the concert at the church, at 1661 McCallum Road, she said.

[…] Ian Hern, a youth pastor at the concert, said there were hundreds of youth jumping and dancing at the time.

“All of a sudden, one of the light poles started to tilt and then the whole floor just caved,” Hern said.

Some of the young members in his group suffered injuries such as a broken arm or a dislocated shoulder, Hern said.

“Obviously, the church floor wasn’t built to handle that number of people,” Hern said.

Or perhaps there was a thirteenth commandment: THOU SHALT NOT PARTY IN THE HOUSE OF THY LORD!

Is anyone else as amused by the idea of a Christian mosh pit as I am?

The REAL reason Senator Craig was arrested.

Illegally tap dancing in a public restroom!

And now for something completely different: A dancing otter.

My favorite animal is the playful otter. Why? Because they know how to have a good time:

The inspiration for the dancing animations in WoW.

Every race in World of Warcraft has two unique dances, one for males and one for females, that a character will perform when a player types /dance into the console and every player has used them at least once. I’ve always known that they were based on real-world dances, but I didn’t always recognize the inspirations behind them or how well they match the source material Blizzard used as a reference when making the animations. Now YouTube user animpinabox has put together a video clip that shows various WoW characters dancing alongside their real-life inspirations:

There’s still more to come and he hopes to put a second video together soon and I can’t wait to see it.
