Yet more proof that there is no God.

Keanu Reeves has been cast as Spike Spiegel in the upcoming live-action American take on one of my favorite anime series: Cowboy Bebop.

It’s like they don’t want my money. Like they’re trying to see if they can get me to pay them not to produce a movie I’d normally camp out to see. If God really existed he’d have smote the casting director with a rain of Space Frogs before the deal was finalized.

Why Space Frogs? It’d be proof of God’s love and divine justice.

  1. Sorry, Les, have to disagree with you.

Spike’s a ridiculously one-note and boring character in a mediocre (at best) anime. Keanu Reeves is pretty much spot on casting. Especially if he grows is hair back to Ted length.

  2. It’s like they don’t want my money

That pretty much sums up all of Hollywood for me.  I’m certainly not the kind of person they’re trying to get into the theater.

  3. It has been my understanding that, unfortunately, Ted “Theodore” Logan was the one really pushing for this movie in the first place specifically so he could play Spike. Why anybody thinks this guy can deliver a line other than “Whoa” and “Welcome to the hall of presidents” is beyond me. Constantine might have been cool with a lead who had some actual charisma.

Also, where’d you get the corner banner fro the atheist bus campaign? All I can find is top, bottom, and sidebar banners, and I’d rather have the corner one.

  4. The first poster has already said exactly what was on my mind when I read your casting lament.  Spike and Keanu are twins seperated at birth.

  5. I have a vast anime collection, a lot of fan-subs make up my collection. So I am in deep when it comes to being an Otaku. I personally think Cowboy Bebob stands alone. Even still to this day it is such a great series.

So, I’m with Les on this one. Ted “Theodore” Logan can’t beat a card board box in an acting contest. He has already ruined it for me

    >: (
