Listings for the current 80GB version of the PS3 have been disappearing from stores as of late leading to a lot of speculation on whether or not there was a new model coming out soon. Turns out the SKU is changing, but only in terms of the pack-ins included. Sony just announced the other day that the new 80GB PS3 bundle will include Metal Gear Solid 4 and the new Dualshock 3 controller. The Dualshock 3 is the long-awaited rumble enabled version of the standard SIXAXIS and the main reason I only have one controller at the moment (I’ve been waiting for the DS3 before buying any more). The best part is that the price for the bundle is still $499. Here’s the new box art:
That’s not a bad deal at all especially if your a Metal Gear fan already. Oh, and for those of us waiting to buy the Dualshock 3 separately, they’ll hit store shelves on April 15 for $54.99.
June 12th, good day to buy a PS3 if you can find one.
Currently playing through MGS3: Subsistence in preparation for the next installment. Gonna be so good.
