Happy Valentine’s Day!

Yes, it’s that time of the year again. A holiday that can be especially challenging for those of us who are more sentimental than romantically inclined. I cheated this year and asked the wifey what she wanted for VD to which she quickly informed me she didn’t want _any_ kind of VD and if I brought VD home to her she’d promptly file for divorce.

Minor misunderstandings aside, I did get some suggestions and I’ve tried to improvise upon them at least a little. I’ll find out later tonight if I did OK or not. Good luck to the rest of you people out there, aside from the ones that don’t have anyone particularly important in their lives right now and find this holiday to be a rather depressing reminder of their lack of a date.

  1. Thanks for the caveat Les, but I don’t actually find VD depressing, I pretty much forget that it even exists unless someone mentions it to me. Nine years and counting.

  2. I wasn’t talking about you in particular, though after 9 years it is probably time we start harrassing you with the are-you-possibly-gay-and-don’t-realize-it-yet type jokes. Not that there would be anything wrong with that. You’re pretty hot for a guy. wink

  3. Please…I have a hard enough time pumping a guys HAND during a greeting handshake, I doubt I’m secretly yearning to pump any other part of their anatomy. No, I’m attracted to women, I just have far too many hang-ups to deal with.

  4. Eric, you’ve had VD for nine years, and you don’t even think of it? And who the hell MENTIONS it to you?

“Hey Eric, how’s the VD, buddy?”
“Jeez, I forgot all about it until you mentioned it.”

Now those are the kind of jokes we need! I’m sorry…just as soon as I read your first post I figured this was too easy to pass up. Later

  5. Nope, I’m not the Eric Paulsen from California either (although I understand he has the same taste in software as I do). I am the Eric Paulsen of Wixom, MI.

  6. It is sooo not Valentine’s Day!! But I’d like to say ‘happy valentine’s day’ to everyone anyways!!!

  7. well. valentine’s day came and went already, and I for one…felt guilty. In one of the most hypocritical emotions I’ve ever had, my GF, who lives long distance, wanted me to come visit. I, on the other hand were (am) broke. Sucks, but true. So I get to feel guilty for disappointing her on a day I think she shouldn’t care about in the first place because it’s got about the same significance as St Patrick’s day (St Valentine)… so… dammit. And I still felt bad. And probably will continue to do so every time I disappoint the girl.
