Pope John Paul II today accepted the resignation of embattled Boston Archbishop Cardinal Bernard Law. Facing mounting pressure to quit over his handling of the church sexual abuse scandal, Law issued an apology, saying he hoped the move will help bring about “healing, reconciliation and unity.”
Now let’s really make this into a true Christmas gift by bringing him up on charges as a willing accomplice to every one of the priests he helped to shield from prosecution. This goes beyond his simply making a mistake, the man allowed the abuse of children to knowingly continue for years with his only concern being the image of the church over the health and welfare of the victims. It makes me wish there was a hell as I’d hope there’d be a special corner for men just like him.
