It’s been nasty cold here in south eastern Michigan lately. Average normal high for this time of year is around 40 degrees and the average high for the past week has barely made it into the 20’s. It is a nipple freezing 4 degrees outside as I type this and that’s not factoring in the windchill. They think we may have tied a record low overnight set back in 1837 or so. Been awhile since it’s been this cold in December. Surprisingly, the cold temps didn’t stop some of the snow we’ve gotten recently from melting a bit during the day yesterday and then freezing up again as ice on the roads. Already this morning there’s a fatal accident not far from where I live in Canton where a semi has been cleaved by a telephone pole it slid into. Yeah, I’m looking forward to the drive into work.

  1. Yeah, that’s a nasty accident too – was about 1 mile from where I used to live.  All because a SUV driver ran the light when coming off 275 and a Semi plowed into the side of him.  And now, 200+ houses are without power.  Boy, I bet Canton’s a fun place this morning.  The coldest morning in a long time, and no power.
